Every time I try and play a dvd or video file on my computer I get this following message:

by default WMP will not play DVD cos it will not have correct codec files. what u can do is u can install many third party media players if u still need only WMP there is a way go to www.filehippo.com and install K-lite codec pack and WMP will play all format, but u said its asking for drivers maybe video drivers br corrupted try to reinstall video drivers but first install K-lite coec and check 99% it will work.

Basic Information on Copying Dvd

Most new computers come configured with the hardware you will need to copy a DVD, hence getting to copy a DVD is no difficult if you have recently purchased a new computer. Hardware in a new computer includes: a DVD burner, adequate memory and hard drive space. If you have an older PC and it does not have a DVD burner installed, you need to have it installed. You may also purchase external DVD burners that could be plugged into your USB port or Firewire port.

Overview:

We have often seen people ask: “Can’t I just cut and paste files from the original DVD movie onto a blank DVD?” But it just wouldn’t work that way. This would work if the DVD were a data DVD which means, that the DVD contained regular files as word documents, photographs etc. However, motion DVDs like movies is encrypted. Thus you will need a special DVD copying software that understands how to “break the code” on a DVD movie, so that you can easily copy it into a blank DVD.

DVD copying software will perform these three processes when copying a DVD:

•Ripping – The DVD copying software will decrypt or extract data from the DVD and place the copy of that data in a temporary folder on your hard drive.

•Transcoding – The DVD copying software will thereafter take that decrypted DVD data and transform it into a format that can be burned onto a blank DVD.

•Writing – The DVD copying software will etch, burn and encode the transcoded data on to a blank DVD-R/ RW.

•The end result is a neat copy of the Original DVD.

How to copy a DVD?

Sometimes you may want to take a backup copy of the DVD that you own. There are numerous ways to successfully copy a DVD, be it a movie or a data disc. We detail below the basic steps to learning how to replicate a DVD. These are the thing you would need to copy a DVD – DVD Burner/ Copier, Blank DVD discs and a DVD / CD laser cleaner.

•Before you attempt to copy a DVD, please ensure that the DVD is not copyright protected and that you are not unknowingly violating any copyright laws.

•Ensure that the blank DVDs you purchase are compatible with your DVD burner.

•Do not forget to follow all the steps as laid out in your DVD copying software, because each software manufacturer has unique particulars on how you should go about making a DVD copy.

However, you also need to take the following precautions while making a DVD copy:

•Ensure that you have the correct format of the blank DVD and compatible to your DVD burner.

•Before you begin, you need to close down all unnecessary programs that may be running.

•Clean your DVD burners thoroughly to avoid any kind of error while burning.

•Do not knock the DVD burner while the copy process is in session.

•Do not touch the surface of the blank DVDs before you attempt to make copies of the DVD.

•Do not attempt to run other programs while the DVD copy process is in session.

FIRST……Put your boot floppy disk in the floppy drive and turn on the PC.On some computers, you may have to access the bios and select the Boot priority to your A: drive.

Save any changes and select “Start Computer without CDROM support” and press Enter.Once you are at the A prompt,type dir c: and press enter.

If your programs and other files are present,try restoring your system Registry by following the steps below.This may repair Windows,the Config. Sys and autoexec.bat files to where the PC may boot up normally.When the files are present,its a good indication of a good hard drive.

SECOND……To correct the problem of your computer not booting up,type in “fdisk /mbr” and press Enter to restore your master boot record.Type “Scandisk C:” to check the hard drive for errors that have occurred. You can also type “Sys C:” to hopefully restore files needed to boot up your computer.

THIRD……If the above procedures fail to repair your computer,you can repeat the first part of step one above and select “Start Computer With CDROM Support” re-install Windows.

Making A Windows XP Bootable Floppy

Windows XP users should create a boot disk now by placing a formatted blank diskette in the A: drive, open Windows Explorer to the C:,select Tools,Folder Options ,show Hidden files and and folders,then View Tab.

Now you uncheck “Hide Protected Operating System Files (recommended).You will see a warning and click Yes and click OK.Copy the files ntldr,ntdetect.com and boot.ini onto the disk.Remove the disk and label it the Windows XP Boot Disk.

After making your boot disk,recheck “Hide protected operating system files and folders (recommended)” in the Folder Options dialog box.

To use the disk when Windows XP won’t boot,place the disk in the drive,and then re-boot,the computer, Windows simply bypass the basic boot files on the hard drive and continue to boot up.

If The PC Won’t Boot Pass Windows

FIRST……If your Operating System is Windows Millennium,turn on the computer and immediately press and hold down the CTRL key.Once the startup options appear,release the CTRL key. Select Safe Mode and press Enter.You are now in Windows limited version.If you know what caused your computer not to boot,you can now either change or delete that program.

SECOND….Repair your Registry by selecting Start,Run and typing “scanregw /fix” and press enter.This will fix any damage done to the Registry. You can also restore your registry which replaces your current registry with an earlier copy that was backed up by your computer.Click on Start,Run and type “scanregw /restore and press Enter.

To repair your Windows 98 Registry,hold down the CTRL key as you start the PC and select “Command Prompt Only”.Type “scanreg /fix” and press Enter and “scanreg/restore” to restore a previousely saved copy of the Registry.

If you have Windows XP,press F8 after rebooting the PC should Windows freeze while booting up. You can select “Last Known Good Configuration” after rebooting to allow the computer to boot the last backed up files.And you can choose “Safe Mode” to remove any files you know caused the operating system to hang up.

Be prepared when your operating system fail. It would be a great idea to go over this article a few times and print it.Make yourself s notebook and place this and all related articles there.

I was wondering if i use itunes backup tool to disk, when i ever need to re import them when it imports will it import again in copywrite protected ACC format or will it import again as a regular old mp3 that will allow me to do what ever i want with it? please explain…

It will use whatever format the song was originally in. So if it came from the iTunes Store, that would be the protected AAC.

If you want to convert these AAC files, put them on a playlist and burn to MP3 or Audio CD.

To digitize your old vinyl collection, you will of course need to connect your turntable to your computer’s audio-in port with a patch cord, more specifically a stereo RCA to 1/8 inch stereo mini plug cable.

Once you have done so, you are ready to fire up Audacity, the free, open-source audio recording application. It is downladable and included with many USB turntables, so you know it’s good.

When launched, you will notice the row of playback and record buttons on the default tool panel, similar to those on a tape recorder. Those, the input meters, and the project rate pop-up at the bottom of the Audacity window, are the most important interface elements.

The major parts of the interface, and the ones that you will be primarily using in digitizing LPs are as follows:

1. The recording and playback buttons. These are similar to those found on a tape recorder. The first and sixth button send the playback hand cursor to the beginning or the end of the recording, respectively. The button with the red circle starts recording. The two blue lines pause the recording and the yellow squares stops recording.

2. The editing tools. The most important is the first button with the I-beam cursor. After you have stopped recording, you can click this button to select the I-beam cursor and drag it over a portion of the recording (waveform) to select it. This is useful for selecting dead space at the beginning or end of the recording so that you can delete it.

3. The output and input meters. These are labeled R and L. There are two sets of meters. The two on the left are for playback and show green bars when your recorded file is playing in Audacity. The length of the bars indicate the strength of the recording. The two bars on the right are for input, and fill with red when you’re actually recording something. When recording, the bars should not go all the way to the end, as this indicates that the playback volume on your turntable is too high. It is also that both the (L) and (R) bars display red indicators, indicating that both left and right stereo tracks are getting a signal. If not, adjust the balance knob on your turntable.

4. Four magnification tools. Click one of these and click on the wave form below to zoom in or out. The last of the four buttons zooms all the way back out so that the entire recording fits in the Audacity window.

5. The Line-In pop up. This may or may not show in your version of Audacity, depending on the version you are using.

6. The waveform, or a visual representation of the recorded music.

7. The Project Rate pop up. This is important. For music, you want it to be 44100. Fortunately, this is the Audacity default.

To begin recording, click the “record” button in Audacity (that’s the one with the round red circle on it).

The sad truth is that there is no way to download streaming video options.  Many people are disappointed when they learn this, especially since there are so many places that will offer streaming videos to individuals.  Sometimes, there are websites that will require a fee from members in order for them to view the videos that the site has to offer, but they will offer streaming videos on the website.  Many people may think that they can download streaming video clips, but this is a misconception.  Streaming video is not a medium.  Rather, the medium is the video, but the method of how the video is offered to the general public is streaming.  Streaming is something that is constantly being offered or played for anyone to view.  Television stations that are on twenty four hours a day are streaming.  Just because you turn your television on during the day does not mean you are recording, or downloading, the video.  That is how streaming video works, and why the ability to download streaming video does not work.

However, there is an alternative solution to the problem people may be having when they want to download streaming video.  There is software that they can purchase of download which would allow them to save the video or videos that they are seeing, which can save them money in the long run, especially if the individual is paying for a website that only offer streaming videos and they understand that they cannot ever actually download streaming video clips. 

Many different websites will offer streaming videos, and others will offer videos of another types that you can actually download.  However, these are not streaming videos and they will take longer to start up.  This is because the information has to load before it can play, when the video is a download.  However, when the video is a streaming video it starts right away and is connected immediately to the origin point.  If a person is setting up their own website with videos on it, it will be very important that they know that they cannot offer to their customers that they would be able to download streaming video clips off of the website.  This cannot be done and customers will be less likely to go to the site if that claim is made, since it is not possible and this will likely drive experienced website users away.  However, streaming videos have their own benefits and are very quick and effective.

These benefits can be played up since they are very advantageous to a lot of people that are looking for effective and efficient videos from websites.  Offering videos is often very nice for people that are looking for different mediums besides the written work on the internet through which they can learn information.  The exchange of information is sometimes done faster through video, and the result can be that there is more of a connection between the individual and the topic in the story that they are learning about in the video, versus if it was written out.  Sometimes images are just more powerful than words.

OMG YESSSSS… It’s so annoying, I usually just give up trying to watch it. For me it will keep on buffering. Then eventually it just stops and starts all the way over at the beginning by itself. And it’s hard to “fast forward” to the point you left off. So now I just make sure I don’t miss it on TV anymore! They should take notes from ABC, I never had a problem watching missed shows of Grey’s and Ugly Betty.

The first iPod supplied was quite unreliable; emails could be received Ok but I needed to reset codes and passwords frequently for the machine to send. Amazon gave superb service when I complained and so far the replacement is working like a different machine, it seems to be reliable and works well with emails and I/Net websites.

If you look at the Apple Forum pages you will see many examples of people having all sorts of problems using their iPod Touch 3rd generation; I don’t know if they bought a suspect machine as my initial purchase or that the iPod software is just not resilient enough to be used by ordinary people who are not computer experts.

Now my iPod seems to be working Ok, and my fingers are still crossed, there are some quirky features which makes it more difficult than Windows computers.

Touch 32 GB iPod  – MUST HAVE!

I have the iPod Touch 16GB 2nd generation but very similar to this version.

I would definitely recommend theTouch 32 GB iPod for music lovers who also like the idea of apps but doesnt want to get the iPhone. This was my main reason for getting the Touch 32 GB iPod as my contract hadnt ended but liked the idea of the apps and music at the same time.

The one problem with the apps in some require internet access and Touch 32 GB iPod only allows this where there is Wi-fi. But I love just being able to use the internet on this at home and also much prefer the touch screen to the normal buttons for iPods but this does come with a down side; the screen does get scratched easily so I would recommend you get a protective film for the screen and also a case to prevent scratches on the back as well.

Another thing that I loved the idea of was that you have the iTunes store on here so if you have internet access you can buy music, videos etc on your iPod without having to plug your iPod into your computer.

I find the battery does not last that long but I am forever on my apps so for what I do it does last a long time but I do have to charge it every 1-2 days.

Ive had many iPods before and this is the one I will keep until it breaks and then replaces with another one. My earphones have broken twice though within a year but I think the Apple earphones arent the best anyway and most of my friends who have iPods use other headphones anyway.

As for apps I would recommend:
Flixster – Can select your nearest cinema and see times and dates of when films are on and also read about the films and read reviews of the films. And this is a free app.

Tube Map - useful if you dont know London very well as you can enter your start and destination stations and it will tell you how to get there, which tube lines to use etc. And this is a free app.

Wikipanion - Wikipedia for your iPod. And this is a free app.

Flight Control - a very addictive game but is very good. Costs 59p but worth it.

And then the obvious Facebook and Twitter apps which are free.

i was going to say that you can just connect it to your computer, but it that isn’t working for you, go onto:
itunes.com—>support—>technical support (under ‘contact us’, which is in bold on the left) and then there are multiple ways that you can contact them. i usually use the phone, pretty good service. although, sometimes it can take awhile to get talking to a real person… but they usually solve my problem (ipod touch). hope i helped!
